Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has issued a firm warning to television stations across Ghana over the unauthorized airing of his movies.
In a recent video message, the Kumawood star expressed concern about the growing trend of TV stations broadcasting his films without seeking proper permission. He stressed that his productions are significant investments and should not be used freely without formal agreements.
According to LilWin, any television station interested in airing his content must first reach out to him or his management team to secure the necessary rights. He made it clear that failure to follow this process could lead to serious consequences, as he is prepared to protect his intellectual property.
The actor also touched briefly on content usage rules, especially regarding short clips shared online. Between timestamps 1:43 and 2:10 of the video, he explained that while limited excerpts may sometimes be acceptable, full or substantial use of his material without consent is not allowed.
Additionally, LilWin used the opportunity to promote his official social media platforms, encouraging fans and media outlets to engage with his content through the right channels.
This warning highlights ongoing concerns within Ghana’s creative industry about copyright protection and fair compensation. Many filmmakers and actors have increasingly spoken out against piracy and unauthorized broadcasting, calling for stricter enforcement and respect for creative rights.
LilWin’s message adds to the broader conversation, signaling that content creators are becoming more vigilant about how their work is distributed and monetized.
