The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has suspended Hohoe United FC from playing in the Ghana Premier League and any GFA competitions for three seasons until the 2029/30 season after the club independently decided to withdraw from the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season in what the Committee ruled was a breach of the league rules (Article 13).
In a statement on Friday, May 1, 2026, the Committee established that Hohoe United were found guilty of their wrong doings after they officially informed the GFA of their decision to withdraw during the second round of the competition on April 1, 2026 and subsequent failure to honour their fixture list.

The Committee has also ruled that the GFA Players’ Status Committee should grant all of Hohoe United’s registered players’ free agency status under Article 15, free from their current club with the only exceptions to this rule concerning their previous transfers to Hohoe United FC.
Following the ban, the club has also been demoted to Division Two under the Greater Accra Regional Football Association. The Committee also ruled that Hohoe United FC pay back all subsidies it received from the GFA for the 2025/26 season including money and equipment, adding that their ban does not cover their debts to the GFA and other member clubs.
Hohoe United can, according to GFA regulations, appeal the ruling with the Appeals Committee within three days of receipt of this notification.
