NRSA has cautioned that use of Voxy model of cars for commercial transportation in Ghana is an offense following breach of regulations and safety concerns. The use of right hand drive car according to NRSA means most Toyota VoxyCars does not conform with the laws and usage standards of a Ghanaian road especially for public transport.
The claim the authority made was back with the recommendations made by the technical working group set up to look into suitability of Toyota Voxy cars for use in the country. “Based on its findings, committee said such Cars are not for commercial purpose in the country.
The steering adjustment made on right hand drive cars to facilitate usage in our local environments mostly did not met our standards. The customs division of GRA and Driver and licensing Authority must enforce the regulation against usage of right hand drive vehicle with due rigor “This has been declared by Abraham Amaliba the Executive Director of the NRSA
Also, in a public release, the Authority further advised that the usage of those vehicles was against the current legislation governing vehicles for human transportation, thereby warning the citizenry against them. “We see the Voxy’s crisscrossing the length and breadth of this nation, but it is designed for intra-city drivers rather than intercity drivers.
They lift these cars, which causes them to lose balance. We’re also being informed that the tires aren’t appropriate for the sort of job they’re being used for in this nation,” it disclosed. Also in the next two weeks, the NRSA said it would liaise with critical stakeholders to finalize and implement the report of the technical committee.
