Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has promoted 25 police officers for their involvement in three operations that resulted in the seizure of 866 parcels of suspected cocaine at the Tema Harbour and the apprehension of ten suspected criminals in unrelated incidents. On Monday, August 10, 2026, the Ghana Police Service stated on Facebook that the promotions had been made.
The individuals were honored for their involvement in the July 19, 2026, interception of alleged cocaine at the Tema Harbour, the apprehension of six suspects linked to the GH¢300,000 theft from a victim on the Kintampo-Buipe Highway’s Portor-Kawempe stretch, and the arrest of four purported members of a robbery ring in Wassa Akropong, Tarkwa.
The Bono East, Tema, and Western Central Police Regions were where the operations took place.
Chief Inspectors Bede Nwinbomeh and Joe Tetteh, General Sergeants Elijah Ndaga Yinimi and Kaifan Sulemanna, General Corporals Owusu Ansah Evans and Tansang Jonathan, and General Lance Corporals Osei Christopher Bonny, Kyei Francis, Ofori Francis, Anim Dominic and Asante Isaac are among those who have been promoted.
Adam Bakari Alhassan and Bakai Mark, two general constables, also got promoted.
Detective Chief Inspector Frank Dzah, Detective Inspectors Edem Ametowoga, Abroso, and Vincent Dankwah, and Detective Sergeants Salifu Yakubu and Samuel Mordzifa are among the detective officers who have been promoted.
Additionally, for their involvement in the operations, six other individuals were elevated to their subsequent ranks.
Chief Inspectors Tetteh and Nwinbomeh also received automatic admission to the Police Academy.
The Police Service stated that the promotions were a recognition of the officers’ expertise and bravery in fighting crime.
