Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno has promoted seven officers of the Tema Regional Police Command, as authorities cite their ‘exemplary operational performance’. Seven other officers were also promoted from other regional commands across the country, for their sterling service throughout their service years, among other promotions.
Police sources revealed that the promotion became effective on the 14th of April 2026, following the recently conducted Operation Halt, an anti-robbery swoop at Tema Community 5, where Police responded to the attack on a Mobile Money vendor by robbers which escalated into a gun battle.
A press release from the Ghana Police Service indicated the police succeeded in eliminating two of the suspects in the fire exchange, and also recovered a gun, ammunition and other related evidences. Officers who got promoted include Chief Inspector Enoch Nartey Nuer, Inspector Gershon Dekpey, Inspector Prince Asante, Sergeant Lukman Mohammed, Sergeant Eugene Kuudouru, Corporal Jerome Akator andLance Corporal Jonathan Sewurah. Both the IGP and the Police Management Board (POMAB) hailed the affected officers for their composure and gallantry during the operation.
The service explains “The officers responded to a robbery attack on the premises of a Mobile Money vendor at Tema community 5 that saw both robbery suspects shot and killed, a firearm recovered, alongside ammunition, and other exhibits. The IGP urged the officers to see their promotion as a charge that comes along with a greater responsibility of service to the entire populace.
The commendation came after weeks of focused policing, in line with a sustained operation by the Ghana Police against street crime and violent armed robberies in and around the metropolis and major business centres, including the Tema enclave.
