The government has announced a big change in how students will apply for placement at Senior High Schools when candidates for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are now required to select schools after results have been released.
According to Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu, this modification is all about improving the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) and ensuring students can make better-informed decisions when selecting schools.
According to Iddrisu, students will have one week to make their selections after they see their results and know their overall grades.
“The former system forced a student to select a school prior to knowing their results and had a negative impact on their placement into schools,” Iddrisu stated.
I am confident that this new system will provide parents and students with a fairer and better experience through the admissions process into Senior High Schools and improve the overall effectiveness of the admissions process into Senior High Schools,” said the minister.
