The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has spoken out against attacks on its workers, calling the recent events “deeply concerning and unacceptable.” They’ve promised to step up efforts to protect their staff and patients.
In a press release on February 21, Director-General Samuel Kaba Akoriyea noted that the Service had recorded several attacks on health workers while they were doing their jobs.
It made clear that these actions ruin the chances of providing good healthcare and won’t be accepted.
The statement made it clear that the organisation is committed to giving the best care possible and stressed that mutual respect between health workers and the public is really important.
The release also said that they expect their staff to be treated with dignity and respect.

The GHS made it clear it stands behind employees working through tough situations and said it won’t accept any actions that put their safety, well-being, or ability to do their jobs at risk.
Acts of aggression, intimidation, or violence against health personnel were strongly condemned.
The Service said it will team up with security agencies to strengthen safety measures at its facilities across the country, making sure patients and staff are protected.
Mr Akoriyea stressed that keeping health professionals and the public safe is the Service’s top priority.
The warning comes as worries grow about the safety of frontline health workers, with many urging people to show support for the medical staff who are essential to the country’s healthcare system.
