Interior Minister, Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has presented over 10 new Nissan Navara pick-up vehicles to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) as part of attempts to boost the Commission’s operational ability in fighting drug trafficking and associated crimes.

According to the Minister, this initiative is meant to enhance NACOC’s mobility, response time, and general performance, specifically as drug-related issues become more and more complex throughout the country.
On Monday, February 2, at the handing over ceremony, Hon. Muntaka said the government supply of essential logistics to state security agencies, including NACOC, forms part of a broader national strategy to enhance national security, protect public health and disrupt organised criminal networks.
He reiterated the government’s dedication to the ongoing revamping of security institutions, emphasizing that enhanced logistics are vital for ensuring rapid response and effective performances nationwide.

“The drug market is evolving, with tramadol accounting for 23% of seized medicines and psychotropic substances, while the remaining 77% reflects growing range of other psychotropic substance.
“It is also against this background that the Narcotics Control Commission has intensified targeted narcotics patrols during the festive season, ” he said.
