ECOWAS, the Economic Community of West African States, is expected to give GH₵3 million, or approximately US$250,000, to help the victims of Ghana’s recent terrible floods.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the minister of foreign affairs, revealed this on Facebook.
The minister stated that ECOWAS has formally informed the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the donation, which aims to provide assistance to those affected by the floods.
He guaranteed the public that, for the sake of transparency and accountability, the ministry would transfer the entire sum to the relevant authorities as soon as the money was credited to its accounts.
The ministry, on behalf of the government of Ghana, conveyed great gratitude to ECOWAS for what it called its solidarity and sincere African compassion during this difficult period.
Numerous communities in seven of Ghana’s regions were impacted by the June 29 floods, which displaced thousands of homes and caused significant damage to houses, businesses, and essential infrastructure.
