NADMO has announced that recent flooding in Samreboi has resulted in about 100 buildings being completely destroyed. As recovery efforts are underway, the community remains mostly unlivable since another 20 structures have been partially damaged.
Even though floodwaters have receded significantly, NADMO emphasizes that the extent of the damage and concerns about contamination make the area unsafe for people to return quickly.
In an interview with Citi News, Christopher Bevel, the Deputy Municipal NADMO Director, shared that nearly 1,900 people have been affected and are still without homes.
He noted, “Around 100 buildings are destroyed, and 20 are partially collapsed. Even though the floodwaters have decreased, the homes are still uninhabitable.”
The flooding was caused by heavy rains that led the Samre and Tano rivers to overflow, causing widespread destruction and displacing many residents.
