Ghana’s 2026 World Cup preparation have become a topical issue of discussion and songwriter, Kofi Kinaata has joined the conversation, calling for a fair team selection.
The songwriter through an X post pleaded with the technical team to ensure deserving and active players make it into the Black Stars squad if they are already choosing the final 26-man squad behind closed doors.

“We beg waa, we’re waiting for the Final WC 26 Man Squad. If the selection process is ongoing backstage too, kindly make it free and fair for the active deserving players.. because we all dey watch some,” he expressed.
These sentiments comes after few nations already began releasing their World Cup squad. Croatia, who are part of Ghana’s Group L opponents has already revealed some of the players expected to feature in the World Cup.
Head coach of the Black Stars, Carlos Queiroz and his technical team have begun intensifying their preparation for the upcoming world cup.
A May 12th press release from the Ghana Football Association stated that the team has watched 170 matches live, gathered 200 video reports from each individual, in an attempt to analyze player performance.
A further analysis stated that out of the 170 matches, 30 were watched live while 75 players have been monitored consistently with 30 undergoing live direct observation. Medical and fitness assessment are top of priority in making sure players are ready before the match comes. The Black Stars will play an international friendly with Mexico on May 22nd.
