On Monday 16th March 2026, two people died following a helicopter crash in Tema.
The helicopter crashed near the city centre at Oninku Drive School Park located in Tema Community One.
Members of the Ghana National Fire Service rushed to the site attempting to recover the dead from the wreckage.

Firefighters and police found two burnt bodies in the wreckage according to reports from the scene.
The helicopter involved in this incident was a microlight registered 9G-ADV according to the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
According to the GCAA, the aircraft was en route from Ho to Accra and was scheduled to arrive at approximately 1520 Z.

The last radio contact with the helicopter was at 1418 Z according to the GCAA.
The GCAA confirmed that at the time of the crash there were two passengers on board the microlight.
Authorities are expected to conduct an investigation to determine how this accident occurred.
