After being found guilty of sexually abusing his 17-year-old biological daughter for a long time, Kwame Ti-Zaaelcuu, 47, was sentenced by the Lawra Circuit Court to 20 years in jail for incest.
Furthermore, the convicted individual received a 10-year prison term with hard labor for endangering the survivor’s life. Both sentences were to be served concurrently.
Following a complaint filed against the offender, the Lawra District Police Command carried out inquiries and prosecuted the case, resulting in the establishment of the offences and the subsequent conviction.
According to the Upper West Regional Police Command, studies indicated that the offender abused his daughter, a Junior High School student, while reportedly threatening to murder her if she revealed the abuse to anybody.
After a full trial, the Court, presided over by His Honour Stanley Adjei, rendered the decision on Friday, July 24, 2026, and found Kwame Ti-Zaaelcuu guilty of incest and death threats.
The court also instructed the Lawra Department of Social Welfare to offer counselling and psychosocial help to the victim, in addition to the imprisonment term.
For their dedication and professionalism, which resulted in the case’s successful prosecution, the Upper West Regional Police Command praised the prosecutor and investigators.
The public has also been urged by the Command to report all instances of sexual and domestic violence to the police without delay in order to ensure that survivors receive the assistance they require and that perpetrators are prosecuted.
