Following the South American team’s 0-0 tie with Portugal, which propelled them to the top of Group K, Ghana will meet Colombia in the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With seven points, Colombia finished first in the group in Miami, while Portugal finished second with five.
Ghana, on the other hand, qualified as one of the best third-placed teams in the competition despite falling to Croatia 2-1 in their last Group L game. The Black Stars accumulated four points over three matches.
Petar Sučić scored from outside the box in the 31st minute to give Croatia the lead. Although Nikola Vlašić restored Croatia’s lead 10 minutes later with a corner, Derrick Luckassen’s header on his World Cup debut in the 73rd minute tied the score.
Croatia took second place with six points, while England came in first place in Group L with seven points after defeating Panama 2-0. Panama was eliminated from the competition after losing all three games.
Ghana will now travel to Kansas City to take on Colombia on saturday, July 4, for a spot in the Round of 16.
On July 1, the winner of Group L, England, will play one of the tournament’s top third-placed teams in Atlanta, while Croatia will play Portugal in Toronto on July 2.
