The Manhyia South MP, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, reportedly disregarded two invitations issued in February 2026 to help with an ongoing investigation, according to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The Office had to take action to guarantee the MP’s attendance in conformity with the law since the invitations were not honored, according to the EOCO. The statement comes after Nana Baffour Awuah was attempted to be apprehended by EOCO officials at the Accra High Court on Wednesday, September 23.

EOCO stated in a press release that its agents were acting in accordance with the law when they attempted to apprehend the MP in connection with the inquiry. EOCO said, “The Office had previously asked Hon. Baffour Awuah to aid in the inquiry on two separate occasions in February 2026.
The invitations were not honoured.” The Office stated that the attempted arrest was one of the legal actions it had taken to guarantee his presence after the previous requests were not honoured. However, the arrest was not completed after the incident got out of hand, with the EOCO claiming that its officers determined that any additional action might have put the public’s safety at risk.
EOCO also stated that it has identified two people who may have intervened to help the MP leave the area and is examining their actions for potential further action. Additionally, the Office acknowledged that the MP later entered Parliament and highlighted that it upholds and honors the constitutional immunileges and privileges of Members of Parliament.
Nevertheless, it asserted that simply being a member of Parliament does not terminate an inquiry or place a person outside the law’s purview. Before deciding on its next actions, the EOCO stated that the inquiry is still ongoing and that it will examine the facts surrounding the occurrence, such as any available video evidence.
