After only four games in charge, Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Eric Tinkler, has immediately resigned from the team.
Tinkler’s request to be released from his contract for personal reasons has been approved by the Asante Kotoko Sporting Club Board of Directors.
The team stated that, while both parties had tried to prevent the decision at this point in their relationship, they ultimately respected Tinkler’s choice to depart.
The decision follows Kotoko’s 2-0 loss to Aduana FC at Baba Yara Stadium in Matchday 4 of the Ghana Premier League.
Karim Zito was succeeded by Tinkler, who was named the club’s permanent head coach on July 17, 2026, in anticipation of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

After supervising four league games, which included one victory, two draws, and one loss, the South African tactician departs.
The team stated its gratitude for Tinkler’s professionalism and dedication during his time with the Porcupine Warriors, even though he only stayed for a short while.
The organization stated, “Asante Kotoko Sporting Club thanks Coach Tinkler for his expertise and commitment to the club’s success during his rather brief tenure with the Porcupine Warriors and wishes him well in his upcoming endeavors.”
With Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo in charge, the club will move forward with its athletic goals, and the current technical team will carry out the club’s plans and goals.
