TDC Ghana Ltd witnessed 40 National Service Personnel complete their Basic Military Orientation as part of their national service commitments to TDC Ghana Ltd at the Ghana Armed Forces’ 1st Infantry Battalion at Michel camp, near Tema, during the 2025-2026 service year.
The 40 served in a variety of capacities (22 males and 18 females) and commenced the military orientation programme on 9 March 2026 and successfully completed it on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. Participants underwent rigorous training in drill and practical exercise.
Participants in the Basic Military Orientation will provide national service in TDC Ghana Ltd, in addition to receiving training on fire safety, responsible citizenship, physical fitness, leadership development, first aid, and communication skills.
TDC Ghana Ltd’s management indicated that the Basic Military Orientation plan is an essential resource for providing personnel with the knowledge and skills required to successfully meet workplace and national service commitments.

Ruth Dela Seddoh, Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), noted during the event that “The Basic Military Orientation programme supports the vision of John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, presented in the State of the Nation Address for 2025-2026 which called for programs that develop citizens who can take responsibility and perform productively.”
According to the Authority, the background program is a major part of their ongoing initiatives for encouraging discipline, leadership, civic duty and national pride amongst national service personnel.
The purpose of the program, according to Ms. Seddoh, is not to militarise young people; it is to provide many necessary life skills, including but not limited to; time management skills, teamwork and emergency preparedness skills.
The pilot version of the program has been successfully concluded by TDC Ghana Ltd., therefore there plans in place to expand into a nationwide programme by July this year, with estimated completion occurring with over 10,000 employees participating.
It is believed that the programme will provide an excellent foundation for future training programmes designed to prepare accountable, disciplined youth professional who are responsible for development of their nations.
Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, Managing Director of TDC Ghana Ltd., referred to the programme’s establishment as historic and stated that the company is the first company in Ghana to develop a similar programme as seen with National Service Personnel.
“This ceremony is about transformation rather than simply receiving our certificates.” He added that for the past two weeks, the foundation of respect for authority, discipline, and perseverance has been instilled in you.
As you go back to your respective duties, he urged all staff to continue to exhibit discipline, integrity, and the highest quality of service, while emphasizing to all present how important it is for there to be people in Ghana who can be trusted to always do the right thing and live by principles.
According to Mr. Nunekpeku, the completion of the first cohort is a significant milestone in the overall effort to develop both discipline and patriotism among new graduates.
He commended the Ghanaian Armed Forces, especially the 1st Infantry Battalion, for their professionalism and dedication in training our workforce.
