As Ghana celebrates its Independence Day, King Charles III, the King of the United Kingdom, has sent greetings to President John Dramani Mahama and the Ghanaian people.
On the anniversary of Ghana’s independence, the British monarch sent a message expressing his and the Queen’s delight at sending their warmest wishes to the President and people of the West African country on the national occasion.
“My wife and I send our warmest wishes to you and the people of the Republic of Ghana on the occasion of your Independence Day,” the King remarked.
The longstanding connection between Ghana and the United Kingdom was emphasized in the message, which portrayed it as one founded on shared history, collaboration, and shared ideals within the Commonwealth of Nations.
King Charles observed that the two nations have strong historical ties and that diplomatic interaction, cultural exchange, and economic cooperation have kept the relationship going strong.
“I look back with genuine appreciation on the enduring alliance between our nations, founded on the common principles and mutual respect that characterize our Commonwealth,” he said.
The monarch also mentioned his brother, Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh’s, trip to Accra last November, noting that it strengthened the bond between the two countries.
“As my brother, H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh, stated during his trip to Accra in November, we share an exceptional history and legacy,” he added.
In addition to recognizing the role of the Ghanaian community in the United Kingdom, King Charles lauded its contribution to British society in a variety of areas.
Through their efforts in business, education, culture, and other sectors, the Ghanaian diaspora, according to him, has helped strengthen ties between the two nations.
At a time of worldwide difficulties, the King also stressed the value of cooperation within the Commonwealth, adding that he hoped member nations would continue to collaborate to advance stability and development.
“The Commonwealth’s vibrant diversity and the vigor of its young people continue to encourage optimism and advancement. At this period of worldwide uncertainty, our combined power and unity are more necessary than ever before, he stated.
As Ghana celebrates another year of independence, the monarch concluded by expressing his hopes for a peaceful and prosperous future for the nation.
