One of the most attention-grabbing transfers of the summer has been completed by Tottenham Hotspur, who signed Scotland captain Andy Robertson on a free transfer after his successful tenure at Liverpool came to an end.
Following the end of his Liverpool deal, the 32-year-old left-back will formally join Tottenham on July 1, putting an end to an eight-year tenure at Anfield that saw him recognized as one of the Premier League’s top full-backs.

Robertson’s arrival gives Tottenham a huge lift as they attempt to capitalize on their Premier League survival and embark on a new chapter with head coach Roberto De Zerbi. The North London club previously tried to sign the defender in the January transfer window, with a deal reportedly agreed between the two clubs before Liverpool pulled out due to squad worries.
De Zerbi voiced his happiness at having signed the seasoned defender after admiring Robertson for a number of years.
De Zerbi stated, “Andy is someone I’ve admired for many years, and he will add remarkable technical abilities, experience, leadership, and attitude to our team.”
“He has a long record of being a winner at the highest level, and he is someone who can make a significant contribution to our team both on and off the field.”

Robertson is departing Liverpool as one of the club’s most accomplished defenders in recent memory. He has made 378 appearances for the Reds since joining from Hull City in 2017 and has been instrumental in one of the club’s most successful eras in recent memory.
He helped Liverpool establish itself as a major force at home and abroad throughout his tenure at Merseyside, winning two Premier League crowns, two League Cups, the UEFA Champions League, and an FA Cup.
Robertson’s career is also at a pivotal point at the time of the transfer. The Scotland captain will arrive in North London with a wealth of experience at the highest level and 92 international caps as he prepares to lead his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
