Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, the General Overseer of Action Chapel International Ministry, has voiced hope for an Africa where citizens may realize their goals and thrive without leaving the country in search of better possibilities.
Speaking on Wednesday, June 3, at the fourth Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Family, Sovereignty, and Values, the famous preacher stated that he imagines an Africa that is built on “principles that work for us” rather than on outside models that do not accurately represent the continent’s distinctive realities.
“I have a goal that during my lifetime, Africa will be developed so much by ideals that suit us, not by ones that suit others, but by ideals that suit us as we consider our culture and as sovereign individual nations,” he declared.
His statements followed Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin’s advice to African nations to protect their sovereignty and cultural values from external influences disguised as modernization.
Archbishop Duncan-Williams emphasized the necessity for African youth to succeed in their native nations and went on to state his aim for a future in which “no son and no daughter of the continent of Africa will queue for visas to go to other nations for greener pastures.”
He stated that Africa’s youth should be given the power to “work and labour in our own land and our countries and achieve their dreams and goals, fulfil their desires and destiny, succeed and prosper within their own countries and their own borders.”
