Ghana’s Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz does not buy into the established coaching language and asserts that his is built upon one principle: victory. As Ghana steps up its 2026 FIFA World Cup preparation with only weeks until their continental challenge for supremacy in USA, Mexico & Canada, the veteran coach let out the above in his formal presentation at the Alisa Hotel.
“I hear there are 33 million coaches in this place. There is so much about me, it will be easy for me to choose and do my job.” Queiroz’s statement touches on both the passion of Ghanaian football fans as well as the glare associated with steering the national team.

Queiroz indicated he did not want to be cornered as a coach based on style – offensive or defensive. “There’s no such thing like defensive or offensive coach in football nowadays. I only speak in the language of winning. The Portuguese boss seems to put greater emphasis on actions, rather than ideological beliefs when it comes to the game.
Discipline, unity and effort- We need to win against anybody. The strategy is fight for you and they will fight for you and win with you,” said Queiroz. While Queiroz steered clear of the traditional labeling, the aforementioned principles could offer a general understanding of his tactical approach – a team built upon collective responsibility and structure, particularly during crucial encounters.

For the sake of clarity as the globe draw closer, Queiroz’s posture could be summarised as: Win at all costs; style to follow. The Black Stars would play two friendly matches prior to their opener against Panama on the 28th of June in a campaign that will no doubt reflect his win-oriented philosophy.
