Before discontinuing its ticket-support program, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation stated that the Government of Ghana gave out a total of 2,922 tickets for the Black Stars’ three group-stage games at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to the Ministry, 974 tickets were distributed for the Croatia match, 1,000 for England, and 948 for the Panama match.
In a message signed by the minister for the sector, Kofi Adams, the tickets were not for sale, but were instead part of a national support scheme for selected fans, supporter groups, sponsors, stakeholders, and members of the diaspora.
Through Ghana’s missions in Canada and the the United States, recognized organizations, and authorized stakeholder channels, distribution was organized. After discussions with community organizations, the missions gathered lists, and tickets were distributed electronically via FIFA’s mobile ticketing system.
The Ministry acknowledged that since demand outstripped supply, many supporters were left without access. It noted that only a small number of tickets were available, but stated that the high interest indicated a large level of support for the Black Stars.
The plan would not extend to the knockout rounds, it stated, and would only cover the group stage. Fans have been recommended to purchase tickets through FIFA’s official platform or licensed agencies.
Once the format is decided, the Ministry also declared that a comprehensive list of recipients will be made public.
