Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, is being cooperated with by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) to be arraigned in a weekend court.
This is in response to his voluntary submission to EOCO on October 1, 2026, at about 10 a.m., as part of an investigation into a GH¢2.2 million payment made to his previous law firm for legal services in a case involving SIC Life.
In a statement released on October 2, EOCO stated that the suspect was working with the Office as it moved forward with the necessary investigative, procedural, and operational processes.
According to EOCO, “the Office is zealously collaborating with the Office of the Attorney-General to bring the Suspect before a weekend court, bearing in mind the relevant constitutional timetables and procedural requirements governing bail.”
In addition, the EOCO advised the public to dismiss claims that Nana Baffour Awuah had been granted GH50 million in bail.
“The Office also wishes to advise the public to ignore media allegations that the Office has given the Suspect a GH¢50 million bail,” the statement stated.
After the Office received a warrant for his arrest in relation to its inquiry, Nana Baffour Awuah gave himself up to EOCO. Earlier, his attorney, Samuel Atta Akyea, suggested that the MP might spend the night at EOCO while questioning continued.
