The Government and MultiChoice has finally reached agreement concerning the DSTV prices in Ghana and DStv is now slashing and simplifying packages. Effective 5th November 2026, the old 6 bouquets (Padi, Confam, Yanga, Compact Plus, Premium) are gone. Replaced with 4 new ones:
New Package Price per month What you get
Starter GH¢50 90 channels – basic news, local, movies
Select GH¢100 123 channels – all Starter + more entertainment
Sports GH¢250 All Starter + Select channels + full football (Premier League, Champions League, La Liga)
Ultimate GH¢570 Everything – premium sports (F1, tennis, golf, rugby) + entertainment
This was announced at joint press conference on Monday by:
- Alex Okyere, CEO MultiChoice Ghana
- Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations
- Canal+ (new owners of MultiChoice)
Why the price drop?
Minister Sam George said since last year he threatened to shut down DStv if prices didn’t drop. After months of negotiation, Canal+ agreed to cut prices to fight “ghost boxes” (illegal decoders) and streaming piracy.
Government also says they are now getting Attorney-General opinion to start massive crackdown on ghost boxes – NCA and Cyber Security Authority will block IP addresses for illegal streaming.
Old price for Premium was GH¢865 – so Ultimate at GH¢570 is almost GH¢300 cheaper. And Starter at GH¢50 is the cheapest DStv has ever been in Ghana.
