Following a friendly match loss to Germany on march 30, 2026, Ghana’s Parliament Speaker Alban Bagbin tore into the Black Stars as well.
“This isn’t Ghana anymore. He voiced concern about the national team’s decline in performance under former head coach Otto Addo. What happened yesterday is not coaching, as he stated.”
The Speaker of Parliament made his comments during the launch of the third season of the Democracy Cup.
After losing to Germany in their friendly match on march 30, 2026, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) fired Otto Addo, and the Black Stars had just 72 days to find a new head coach before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
As Ghana prepares for the world stage, the Speaker’s comments indicate increasing frustration with the lack of consistency and tactical issues the Black Stars have shown.
To be competitive on the world stage, the national team must now go through a critical phase of restructuring and strategising.
