An armed suspect was shot dead by police in Ejura, Ashanti Region, during an operation on March 17, 2026, aimed at dismantling a robbery syndicate targeting local people and travellers.
On Friday, March 20, the Ghana Police announced that the deceased suspect, Amadu (aka Manu), who had been shot, died as a result of his injuries.
He is believed to have been part of a group that robbed a car carrying passengers in a shooting offence which occurred along the Atebubu-Ejura road on March 14, 2026 where a passenger was shot.
The Police confirmed that they recovered a Tecno Pop 10 mobile phone and GH₵200 in cash along with a pistol and five live cartridges from the deceased.
According to the Police, they have increased efforts to locate, identify and arrest other members of the gang, as part of an initiative to create a safer environment for residents and travellers.
