Investigations into the alleged embezzlement of approximately GH¢55 million are still ongoing, therefore it is anticipated that Dennis Edward Aboagye, better known as Miracles, the former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralization (IMCCoD), would be granted bail today.
According to a statement released on Monday, July 13 by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), the choice to grant bail complies with Ghanaian legislation and the 1992 Constitution.
Following his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport on Saturday night, Mr. Aboagye was arrested by Ghana Immigration Service officers after they enforced a stop order. He was subsequently handed over to EOCO on Sunday morning.
According to the anti-graft agency, he subsequently joined investigators on a search operation on Sunday, July 12, with additional searches anticipated to go on.
The former IMCCoD Executive Secretary was subjected to a stop order, according to the EOCO, after investigators discovered important new evidence regarding alleged fraud and theft. He had already left the country, nevertheless, by the time the order was given.
The Office underlined that granting bail does not conclude the investigations, and that it is still dedicated to pursuing the matter expertly and in accordance with the law while upholding the constitutional rights of everyone who is being investigated.
