The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, is facing a two-week detention by the police in connection with alleged false publications and disrespectful remarks he allegedly made in public.
The vocal politician was arrested Wednesday, May 13, 2026, barely a few weeks after he was granted bail in the same matter. The NPP chairman was first arrested on Monday, April 13, in connection with some allegations of objectionable conduct, false publication and publication likely to cause fear and panic in public discourse and later admitted to bail with a request for further investigations.
Now, security services have apprehended him again as they continue with the investigations into the allegations made against him.
Sources have it that not much of details regarding the latest arrest have been released by authorities at press time, but individuals close to the investigators, have suggested that it forms part of security forces efforts at clamping down on perceived fake news publications and incendiary statements and pronouncements in the public.
As for now, officials have not revealed wether new charges were brought against the NPP regional boss.
