Ghana’s male 4x100m relay team has earned qualification to the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing after finishing second in Heat 1 of the repechage at the World Athletics Relays in Botswana in a time of 38. 09.
The consistent progress of the team at the global level is showcased as this marks Ghana’s fourth qualification for the men’s 4x100m relay at the World Athletics Championships. Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Amoah and Edwin Gadayi gave a relaxed outing on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
Having clocked 38. 19 in Heat 3, the team finished fourth thus narrowly missing automatic qualification by one day on Saturday, May 2 in what can be seen as a form of redemption. The team had a commendable response in the repechage with the team exchanging batons well and still maintained their speed in all four legs.
