A woman in her neighborhood was robbed of a lot of her possessions, including gold watches, jewellery, mobile phones, television set and more than $22,350 in cash and GHC1000, when she returned home from work on March 4, 2026.
On March 11, 2026, police used intelligence to apprehend Daniel Odai Afotey at Laboma Beach and he is scheduled to appear before the court on Monday March 16, 2026, to answer to his alleged crimes.
Through their investigation into the robbery and the arrest of Afotey, law enforcement officers discovered that a large number of other items stolen from other people were also located in Afotey’s bedroom. There are now questions as to whether or not Afotey’s actions were connected to a larger operation.
Afotey admitted to law enforcement officers that he had committed a robbery together with another person, who he identified as Ewonam. Police have an ongoing manhunt for Ewonam.
The policy has also obtained many items that were either stolen during the robbery, or were obtained through the investigation, from Afotey that have not been claimed. The CID Headquarters will contact people who may have had property taken from them in connection within the areas of Spintex, Teshie Nungua, etc., to assist police in identifying those items.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
