The Western Region’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed its heartfelt sadness over the passing of Seth Kwame Dzokoto, a well-known television personality and party communicator better known by his stage names Efiewura and SKD.
The party, in a statement, described his demise as a big loss to the NDC, Ghana’s media and entertainment industry and the larger public, noting his unique presentation style, humor and ability to connect with audiences.
Mr. Dzokoto began his career in political communications as the Deputy Constituency Communications Officer for Tarkwa-Nsuaem before running as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency in the 2016 general election.
Between 2018 and 2022, he also served on the Western Regional Communications Committee, where he contributed to the party’s advocacy and communication operations.
The party recalled that former President John Dramani Mahama arranged for his medical care overseas in 2023, during which time he experienced major health issues. His surgery was a success, and he resumed public and political activity after a period of recuperation, according to the statement.
The NDC expressed its particular sadness at reports that Mr Dzokoto passed away while taking part in a radio discussion about the impending constituency election, characterizing the situation as an example of his dedication to political dialogue and party activity.
“His extraordinary capacity to communicate with people, amuse audiences, and express political ideas earned him an adored character among his colleagues, fans, and the general public,” the statement said.
His death, according to the party, has left a gaping hole in its Western Regional Communications Bureau, and his contributions to political and broadcasting communication would continue to motivate future generations.
It offered its sympathies to his wife, children, close family, friends, media associates, and members of the NDC community.
Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, the Western Regional Communications Officer, signed the declaration on behalf of the party’s regional leadership and members.
