Zakaria Abdulai, headmaster of the Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), claims he is awaiting a court date regarding rape accusations against him and insists that he has given his own account of the events to the committee looking into the situation.
During an interview with Black Rasta, Mr. Abdulai said that a complaint filed by a girl and her parents had led to a warning from the police. Self-recognisance bail, he continued, had been granted to him.
“I was warned because one girl and her parents claimed that I had raped her. They reported it, I was cautioned, and as a headmaster, I was granted self-recognisance bail. I’m currently awaiting my court dates,” he added.
According to Mr. Abdulai, the allegation would be seen differently if his side of the incident were presented.
Additionally, he said that the committee looking into the issue had heard his side of the story as well as the complainant’s and her family’s version.
Additionally, Mr. Abdulai refused to discuss the complainant’s character, claiming that he was unfamiliar with her.
“You’ll be shocked if I tell you the events of this specific girl who is alleging that I raped her. I don’t know her, but I do know that she has given birth. She is between 20 and 21 years old. However, I can’t determine whether she is good or evil. I can’t. But I have my story.”
His remarks follow an investigative report by journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni that details claims of sexual abuse at Obuasi SHTS.
According to reports, 19 girls have already made allegations of sexual assault against Mr Abdulai.
