Responding to accusations of the ministry’s role in the visa scandal associated to the World Cup, Kofi Adams commented on criticism of Ghana’s World Cup campaign on Channel One TV’s Face To Face program.
Additionally, he made it clear that Yaw Ampofo Ankrah had been put on hold as Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), not fired.
“You cannot claim it was a terrible performance if you take into account our most recent results, from failing to make it to the 2018 World Cup in Russia to our performance in the 2022 [World Cup in] Qatar, where we were eliminated in the preliminary stage, to the 2026 [World Cup], where we at least progressed from the group stage.” Kofi Adams stated.
Ghana earned four points at the World Cup by defeating Panama 1-0, drawing 0-0 with England, and losing 2-1 to Croatia to advance to the round of 32. Nevertheless, Colombia defeated the Black Stars 1-0, eliminating them from the competition.
