Three suspects accused of allegedly breaking into the home of former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan and stealing valuable items, including pistols, football medals, expensive watches and jewellery, have appeared before a court in Accra.
The case has attracted significant public attention because the same suspects are also alleged to be connected to a separate and more serious criminal incident involving the fatal shooting of a car dealer and the shooting of his wife.
The three suspects appeared in court on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in connection with investigations into the alleged robbery at Gyan’s residence and the separate shooting incident. Reports indicate that the suspects attempted to conceal their identities from members of the public as they were escorted into the courtroom.
Alleged Robbery at Asamoah Gyan’s Residence
According to reports, the suspects are accused of entering the former Ghana captain’s residence and making away with several valuable possessions.
The items allegedly stolen include pistols, football medals, luxury watches and jewellery.
The alleged theft has generated widespread interest, particularly because some of the stolen items were reportedly closely linked to Gyan’s successful football career and personal collection.
Asamoah Gyan, Ghana’s former national team captain and one of the country’s most celebrated footballers, is not accused of any wrongdoing in the matter. His name has emerged in the case strictly because he is the alleged victim of the robbery and the reported owner of the stolen property.
Suspects Also Linked to Fatal Tuba Shooting
The case took a more serious turn following allegations linking some of the suspects to a fatal shooting at Beach Drive Estate in Tuba, near Weija.
The shooting incident, which reportedly occurred on August 6, resulted in the death of 54-year-old Mohammed Rahman, who has been described as a car dealer.
His 53-year-old wife, Christiana Fosu, was also shot during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.
According to the police account presented in reports, two of the suspects are brothers, identified as Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the alleged connection between the suspects and the earlier robbery involving Asamoah Gyan’s property.
Stolen Pistol Allegedly Linked to Murder Investigation
One of the most disturbing aspects of the investigation is the reported possibility that a pistol allegedly stolen from Asamoah Gyan’s residence may have been used in connection with the fatal shooting in Tuba.
Reports indicate that investigators are examining the alleged link between the firearm stolen during the robbery and the weapon connected to the shooting of the car dealer.
The alleged connection has raised serious concerns about the consequences of firearms falling into criminal hands and potentially being used in subsequent violent crimes.
